holy converse ads batman.
i am right there with you. can just talk about spoons records on a site. see you over at Spoongum.com. i have this great story about the first time i saw the video for everything hits at once in my dorm on MTV2.
man! my friends Uncle charlie was right! Alice in Chains does RULE!!! even though he was twice divorced. those women were bitches anyway. well at least that’s what he said. he also used to say ‘down in a hole’ was about FUCKIN’ !!! and “rooster” was about COCAINE!!! COOL. UNCLE CHARLIE YOU RASCAL!!!! man i remember the time he came to our halloween party when i was 17. he was 32 but i guess it turns out he was cool all along cause man did he love AIC. he was dressed up as a burger king employee!!! He had the same uniform he wore when he was a teenager!!! weird 70′s hat and all! he used to talk about the two part harmonies of cantrell and staley… “them boys have better voices than those faggots with aqua net hair dos and pussy lyrics!” RIGHT ON UNCLE CHARLIE!!!! i used to think Alice in Chains was some of the most hackneyed contrived garbage i ever heard. but thank god for uncle charlie. and all the apologists at stereogum. rock on! no excuses that i know!
hey wilco….can you make a video where jay bennett comes back and his presence monitors the soaring heights of tweedy bullshitism? jeff was better when he had a human limiter… bennett being a dildo or not
we are all being roped into commenting on these ‘worst to best’ posts.
“feel the age falling on me”… well said.
dang nora. taker easy
i disagree with you greenie weenie
turns out you can’t say anything
cerebus fights for pumpkins and DMB. cerebus fights for 1995
if billy had a weakness for pissing on 13 year olds, i guess it would be his R. Kelly’s heel.
man this guy is even starting to LOOK like britt daniel
dear dave williams band,
production notes:
lose the ear candy [sax, guitar solo), the cringeworthy (children’s chorus), turn down the drum mix(especially the hats, sheesh), and while you’re at it lose a few of those drums. branch out on some other percussion besides toms. you ALMOST have a world music thing going here rhythmically. work with it. i know you have a beast back there. tell him to calm down, he’s proved hes drag roll master fast-hands-pete. try doing it on a 4 piece. its all max roach needed. and im sure its how you started out. you know who has a lot of pieces? tommy lee. and he also has a big dick porno.
concentrate on the not-so-bad hook at 1:10: why did this idea go disappear so quickly? its a least a fucking hook which is what its ALL ABOUT.
i haven’t thought about you since middleschool and im sorry to see you’re stuck in 1995
sincerely,
joey ricard
thats my problem with this band. sometimes you may hear potential when you are forced to listen to them . but they blow it early and every time.
p.s. dave, you listen to XIu Xiu? hire john mcEntire or ariel rechtshaid. or any number of amazing producers that haven’t worked on you and U2 their whole lives. shit maybe jim o’rourke. im sure these motherfuckers may be interested in DMB kind of money. you’d have to LISTEN to what they say though. probably something you are way too set in your ways to do at this point.
ahhhh who cares!? WHO CARES?!!!! ya blew it
“What im trying to do is recreate the Deliverance soundtrack from pure memory.”
look at the outpouring of comments and down votes. its satisfying to see not just anyone can come up with a good caption. I’d be worried if I saw all green
SURPRISE!!!!
interesting. im not aware of the politicking that goes on behind the scenes but i would be impressed if that kind of consideration and time was given to one record in particular when they are reviewing over 1,000 a year (a process that begins months before the number is published). historically speaking Lower Dens has seemingly plateaued over at P4k. if you recall Twin-Hand was reviewed much the same way upon its release critically speaking and it didn’t get no year-end love. i’d guess the band isn’t worried about it so thats probably all that matters!
why doesn’t an 8.2 warrant a Best New Music from pitchfork? i know pitchfork produced their video for propagation…conflict of interest? that kind of thing can mean a lot to a band on the rise. im stumped.

just to get one thing straight: KIll The Moonlight is not only the best Spoon record, it’s literally a career-defining effort. maybe you have to be a musician to recognize the unique artistry and craftsmanship that went into this record. sure they touched upon it with Girls Can Tell, but they perfected it with Kill The Moonlight. anything else at the top of this list is purely personal taste and that should never get in the way of a good writer. c’mon Stereogum. I thought you were cooler than this
