I’m talking about the offensive language – vulgarity – the n word the f word – used over and over and over – this is not art – never will be – sorry dude you’re just reading into it too much again – no need to be philosophical. This music is offensive and will NEVER stand the test of time.

hey man – all rappers are “confronted with the limitations of reality” (and don’t know where to draw the line) and “crave fantasy”(they think dating pornstars is being on top of your game and they think money is the most important thing in one’s life) There’s no conflict. It’s called delusion. That’s reality in their minds. Yes it’s a theme and yes it’s the theme of every rap album. I think you’re trying to hard and being a little bit too philosophical.

Haha a pop record – how old are you?

/ˌɪn əkˈsɛs ə bəl/ Show Spelled[in-uh k-ses-uh-buh l] Show IPA. –adjective. not accessible; unapproachable

Please tell me you think children should be listening to Jay-Z or Kanye West? That makes their music inaccessible.

I understand music doesn’t have to appeal to all ages but if it doesn’t then it’s missing something. When I was a teenager(in the 90′s) I listened to NWA – Cypress Hill – Wu Tang ..etc…and guess what – I thought it was the most amazing stuff I’ve ever heard. Then you get older and a little more mature and realize wow , most of those songs lyrically are just rude and crude and a little bit embarrassing. If you would of asked me when i was 16 if i thought I was going to listen to rap my whole life I would have said “Hell YES” but guess what. Things change. Thats why its funny to hear all these teenagers act like they know what’s “Amazing or relevant” where in 10 years you’ll be a little bit embarrassed to talk about all the crap you listened to when you were young.

Why don’t you have any words? I’m sure you can throw something together and elaborate on what you’re feeling.

I’m saying the lyrics make them sound like they’re uneducated – and Yes I listened to Kanye’s new album and it may possibly be the most overrated album of all time. ZERO originality and completely inaccessible – do you really think anyone can listen to it? You can’t give an album a 5 out of 5 when its so vulgar that people of all ages can’t enjoy it. There is nothing on Kanye’s newest that us music fans haven’t heard before. It’s not a horrible album but far far away from being perfect.

HaHaHaaaa – This song is a freakin joke. I’m glad the lyrics were posted. It shows how unoriginal these guys are. It just makes them sound like uneducated fools. How many times can you “rap” about the same freakin things. We get it – you drive Mercedes, you bang super models and you wear gaudy diamonds.
Don’t even get me started on them completely ruining/butchering this awesome Otis Redding song. Hip Hop is an embarrassment to the human species.

I don’t understand why this album is getting so much hype – it blows! The lead singers voice is horrible and annoying. Screaming just doesn’t work. Pitchfork will have a gigantic boner for this album because its not catchy and impossible to listen to more than 2 songs without wondering “am I missing something” – don’t waste your time listening to this trash unless you want a throbbing headache.

It was a damn good performance. I really think 6 out of the 10 songs on the album are pretty darn awesome. Machu Picchu, Under Cover of Darkness, Two Kinds of Happiness, Taken for a Fool, Gratisfaction, and Life is Simple in the Moonlight are all catchy as hell and have some cool inspiration (Cars-Tom Petty-Lou Reed – Reggae). The other 4 songs aren’t horrible. Games is a grower and the last 2 mins of that song are the strongest. Metabolism could be a B side off of FIOE and has some sick guitar in it.
You’re so Right is probably the biggest departure from the traditional “Strokes Sound” but I’ve found to like it more over time and Call Me Back is kind of like a modern day lullaby. In no way is the album perfect but I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. Definitely more fulfilling than FIOE and something that all Strokes fans will enjoy. If you’re a hater you prob like crappy radio rock or just don’t like the band for personal reasons. Get over it, The Strokes aren’t breaking up and WILL be putting out new music a lot quicker this time around. Can’t wait to see them at MSG!

I can’t agree with everything said in this review. I think “Taken for a Fool” is one of the strongest songs on the album along with “Macchu Picchu”, “Under Cover of Darkness”, Gratisfaction”, “Two Kinds of Happiness”, and “Life is Simple In The Moonlight”. I really do think all the songs I just mentioned are some of the catchiest songs I’ve heard in awhile and maybe some of the best the Strokes have released.

As for everyone talking about how the vocals were recorded and how Julian sounds like he’s hovering above the song, not engaging with it. I think people have this set in their minds because of the news that Julian wasn’t around for most of the recording. If this wasn’t out in the open I really think this wouldn’t even be included in reviews.

I really am happy with this album, it’s really a lot more fulfilling than First Impressions. I just hope they can put all the BS aside and get recording another in the next year.
