Probably my favorite song off the new album. The production just suits it so well

I’m not into that

I’m pretty sure it’s cruel and unusual for m83 to release something as amazing as Midnight City and then make us wait months for the rest of the record.

I could tell. That statement definitely does not sound like something that is exaggerated in the least.

In fairness, that’s really what everyone says about modern classics when they come out. Honestly the Age of Adz has a lot going for it. I got to see him play in Austin just a few days after the album was released and it made me appreciate it a lot more. I think people will look back at Sufjan’s whole discography years from now and Age of Adz will be just as important as Michigan (not Illinoise though).

I think that’s right. To be honest, the external value of something greatly affects the way people internalize it. If you listen to an album Pitchfork gave a six you are much more likely to feel lukewarm about it than if they gave it an 8. I paid $4 for the Suburbs and enjoyed it mildly. I think for my own sake I’m willing to pop full prize for the Age of Adz for my own enjoyment (that and 320kbps vs. Amazon’s 192..)

I really loved the live version. I like this one too, but it seems a little sterile. Less than “I walked”, but sterile nonetheless. I think it will take a lot of listens and a sonically cleansed pallet to really enjoy this.

Oh yeah, absolutely. It’s not that I’m pointing out, it’s the fact that the suggested real fans would have heard this before NPR put it up legally.

How about, “If you’re already a fan, you have no doubt not heard the new Beach House because you are going to pay for music you enjoy to support the artists behind it”?

He can have as many pompous and outlandish opinions as he wants, so long as there’s a new album out in 2010 and it’s good.

The shame of it is there are lots of parts in this video that would have done well without other bits. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like the video much.

I think I’m most excited for the Ruby Suns and Shearwater in 2010. I would probably cry if Okkervil River were so kind as to release something, as well.
