Jared Leto Beats Fan With Mic

Jared Leto Beats Fan With Mic

Jared's got a sort of funny relationship with the people that turn up to watch him play music. They pay to see him, he brings them close and suckerpunches them. Pretty cool! The first reports came from PinkPop in the Netherlands in '07 (watch at 3:50). This latest bit comes from 30 Seconds To Mars's performance the other night at Hammersmith in London; this time he's not crowd surfing, but he does show that extra bit of love by smashing a fan's melon with his mic. No wonder people like to not catch you when you stagedive, Catalano.

YouTube commenter waltzinblack1980 nails it: "If you're at a 30 Seconds to Mars show, you probably deserve to get smacked." Reports state the attack came during the song "Buddha For Mary," which we hope is meaningless to you.

You stay classy, Jared Leto.

I wouldn't recognize one of their songs if it bit me in the ass, but this quote from that Post article is also priceless:

"A rep for Leto insisted, 'Jared did not jump onto the crowd. He went into the audience while singing 'The Kill.' His injuries were a result of the crowd rushing towards him in their excitement to be close to him.'"

That YouTube commenter got it right I reckon. I mean, if he was a youngster just starting out with youthful exuberance you could almost - ALMOST - understand it. But the dude's what? 36?? Grow up, maybe?

I wrote about 30STM once. 6 lines, I wrote. I am reluctant to do so again, following the veritable tide of retardedness that flowed in the comments.

The comments are only reflected, by you, as "retardedness" because they don't share your view. I have no opinion one way or another regarding 30 Seconds to Mars, but I do know that if I am there working hard to entertain you and it is YOU (the fan) that cannot grow-up and act like you have manners and try to yank my butt off of a stage, I would probably bean you several times in the crown to make sure you let go and I didn't fall. That is natural instinct!
If you are a writer, as you stated, then you should have some middle ground, which you showed you did not. So, I don't think, in my opinion (and we all know what opinions are) you are much of a writer. As an artist, I sure wouldn't give one hoot about anything you wrote about me. I would consider the source!!!

I wrote about 30stm once too, in my blog, in a post about bands I would smack around for being ridiculous. you wouldn't believe the shit I got for that from some deranged Jared fan.

"If someone grabbed on to me I might hit them too."

No Zach, not if you think you are a "rock star" and you are leaning into the crowd so they will grab you.

Leto is making himelf look like a first class douche. Being the king of the Hot Topic scene when you're almost 40 is like winning a gold medal at the Special Olympics...you know the rest...

Apparently this guy loves killing people's hope for valuable music -- according to IMDb he recently played Mark David Chapman in a movie called "Chapter 27".

At least the Frozen Embryos ripped of enjoyable bands.

Yeah we've heard this a hundred times , the answer is perhaps you should get the person who assaulted him in the first place.... oh no that's not news is it, just a truthful fact...ask someone who was there.

im not being funny but you have to remember Jared is like a 36 year old man and theres a 16/17 year old girl probably touching him up. Thats wrong in itself you wouldnt do it to your dad so dont do it to him.

Hes trying to perform live and if shes dragging him down and not letting go hes not going to be pulled under, and let her ruin it for others..whats he meant to say "excuse me could you please let go as your hurting me"

I dont agree with him whacking her over the head but some fans take it to the extreme and i think id do the same in that situation.

If someone from fucking machine head or hatebreed done it theyd get a pat on the back but its just cause its jared leto and ur blatently jealous of his bands achievement.

Really? Get over it, Mr. Stereogum.

Anyone in that situation would be terrified and want to get free. No police reports, no victim, no story... no matter how much you wish there was.

Of course, fans should be treated well. Of course band members should be shown respect by not being molested when they come close to fans. Unfortunately, this is a big gray area and you aren't that bright.

catalano why? why do you hurt people first it was sleeping with angela's best friend...now this... I just don't understand. Maybe you should go back to acting where you belong. You won't have to clock people in the head if you do movies or hell why not do a "where is he now" thing with jordan catalano & show you working in a garage with your three brothers trying to make it...oh wait Joey from Blossom already did that. Oh well back to crackin heads right jordan?

lame all of it...

Jared Leto can and probably should beat up his adoring fans. What's better than watching pencil-thin arms flailing angrily to the backdrop of crybaby rock? I'd like to see more fighters wear make-up, I tell you what.

Who's ready for a Spin-sponsored Jared Leto vs. Ryan Adams bout? At Bonnaroo. I'd sooner pay for that than pay to see Pearl Jam.

Okay.

I was about ten to fifteen feet away. The person in question had grabbed the back collar of his coat and was choking him. It wasn't something that came out of the blue. IMHO they deserved it. When he jumped on me that night (he landed directly on me during The Kill), I made sure to watch where I put my hands once he was up on the barrier, and wow... gee, no beat down occured. Maybe you should report the ENTIRE incident instead of just trying portray Jared as a douche.
