New Cut Copy - "Lights & Music" (Radio Edit)

Another cut from Cut Copy's forthcoming, NYC-recorded In Ghost Colours LP is up for streaming. It should offer some solace if you were spooked by "So Haunted" with its guitars and four-to-the-floor rock (this one's got a synth and you can dance to it!), but producer Tim Goldsworthy and the boys introduce a Paul Banks-flavored break around 1:50 to keep things fresh and local. Good tune. (Thanks, Stephen)

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
