New Janet Jackson -

New Janet Jackson - "Rock With U" & "LUV"

You can hear two new tunes from Miss Jackson's forthcoming Discipline by heading to her site and clicking on 'Jukebox.' "Rock With U"'s spelled like Prince but carries an updated early '80s disco/dance-pop sheen, while "LUV" sounds more like the now, with R. Kelly cadences and still-questionable spelling. But if it's vocals filtered beyond the point of recognition and dimestore intergalactic sexiness you're after, U won't beat this. Ever.

I may get a lot of flak for this, but can I just say that I think it's awesome that at least one person at Stereogum deems it necessary to interrupt our regularly scheduled indie/bubbling up from the underground program to update us on new Janet Jackson. Real talk.

Um... didn't someone already do a song called "Rock With U", albeit with a different spelling? And isn't that person related to Janet somehow?

"Rock With U" definitely reminds me of "SloLove", which is an excellent chill house track. Janet's definitely embracing her love for house and downtempo music. This sounds like something Kaskade would include in his Om mix CDs. It is different from a lot of singles Janet's released. Unlike "Together Again", "Rock With U" doesn't sound commercial at all. Definitely looking forward to the remix.
