Ringo Starr Walks Off Regis And Kelly
It's not quite Elvis Costello on SNL, but props, Ringo -- we weren't gonna mention your new album otherwise.

Dear Ringo, your fans are on your side. How dare such a useless show as "Regis and Kelly" diss you!!!!!!!! That show is the ultimate, middle-american tunnel-vision, beige-in-the-burbs, conservative-housewives, blubber. Don't bother with shows like that anymore!!!

@Eric: they wanted him to cram a four-minute song into 2:30, but he apparently didn't like that idea.
Sad about Heath Ledger; only 28 years old, too. Although I've no idea what it has to do with Ringo.

His new album is such a blatant Beatles cash-in that it's almost sad.

these comments are just about a perfect thumbprint of our fractured and confused country. our relationship and concern with celebrities has quickly made us focus so much on the lives of these actors and actresses that we've just about forgotten about our fellow man and the state of our country. we're at war and the press is obsessed with britney spears, who is doing absolutely nothing worth paying attention to, but we get daily updates about where she drove and what drive thru she went through...oh, and who was with her and what she ordered. and ate. and threw out. and then where she went next.
ringo starr is more than able at this point in his career to make whatever decisions he wants to. i always think it's gross that Live with Regis and Kelly makes musical artists chop down their song to what's usually a verse, chorus, bridge and chorus out, but it's their call and he was only going on the show to promote his release.
it's really nothing to get all venom-spitting about.
they didn't reach a compromise. c'est la vie. the regular demographic of that show would have a hard time even noticing the edit. the die-hard ringo fans that were tuning in, well...
aaaah, who gives a shit?
and yes, heath ledger died. he killed himself. whether by accident or on purpose or a little of both. hopefully his life was a bit more charmed than the thousands of other people who died today from drug overdoses, but didn't get national coverage. so i now know people that are crying because he died. like they knew him. a reclusive actor who went out of his way to keep some privacy. respected and enjoyed his work? great. be thankful.
life is fragile.
learn from his mistake...if that's what it was.
sorry. i'm not in the best mood and i think i've come to the conclusion that unless things change drastically AND quickly, we are, as a nation, doomed.
good night!

yeah exactly, i have no idea about the Ringo thing, n who gives a fuck, but heath ledder died and...again, really, who gives a fuck? not to be cold but, as the ranty person stated, thousands other died today too. that's the way i always feel about 'celebrity' deaths. like OOOH we lil plebian masses are spose to all sob about it, FUCK that.
*I* cry about little kids dying of cancer and aids and rape and murder etc, not a fucking celebrity blowing their head off, or taking pills or starving themselves. FUCK hollywood, i could give a shit, i care about the REAL poeple in this world, the truely innocent.
SO...yeah...something about Ringo walking off a show?? hahaha.
(cough die hollywood die cough)

and to you tristan...we do care. enough to spend a bit of time here trying to try and open the eyes of people like you a bit wider.
of course you'll try to get us the fuck out of here because we call you on the bullshit, but i hope you don't think i'm trying to seem pompous or pious. if i thought we were all hopeless, i wouldn't bother. i'm not apathetic...yet.
i'm gonna give it some time and do what i can personally to at least have what i consider to be the more substantial focuses and concerns represented. who else is gonna counter the bullshit that's tossed out here daily?
thanks for your sarcastic remark tho. i expected many more.
see? i'm even more optimistic now. 2 pro. 1 con.

yeah, and here's something else to think about dear...IF hollywood star X found out YOU died tomorrow...would they give a shit? no...no they wouldnt, not in a million years. UNLESS per chance they're put on the spot in a TV interview and they also reveal YOU were their number one fan...then MAYBEEE...for a 1/2 second;)
So again, cry from the innocent, not poor rich celebs. And it's not like the guy died in a drive-by or cancer for eff sake. HIS fault, boo hoo, IF you're gonna cry, cry for his daughter he just helped to fuck her over for the next 20 years. Thanks dad.

There are a lot of interesting points in these comments about criticism on popular culture. However, the majority of people, and i include myself in this, are a product of this pop culture whether we like it or not. I didn't care all that much about his death and even the millions of people that say a remorseful word for him today will forget about him in a few weeks, without his life and his work ever truly impacting their lives. We lift up people in society and praise them, and for what, what have they truly contributed to society and our lives. I believe Dave W had a very good point, this man who was considered great because he graced the screens of cinemas around the world and made rich people richer has now offered his daughter a lot of money and an emotional death sentence. By inadvertently or intentionally killing himself he has damaged the one person in his life he was, at the very least, on this earth to take care of, and he screwed that up. The first reaction is to swing to the opposite spectrum of thought and employ feelings of hopelessness and doom for humanity. Such feelings are often in reaction to such event, all be it they fail to think rationally about the world. In many cases the hope for humanity, found in random acts of service and love for human beings are found everywhere. The people working at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, teen pregnancy care centers, homes for girls and boys are just some examples of individuals that value not only their own life but others as well, maybe even more. I challenge everyone here, if you are disgusted and fed up popular culture, then get up off your whiny ass and make a difference. It may never be noticed outside of the circle of the people you help but honestly if you expect anything else you are doing it for the wrong reason. Anyways this has jack to do with Ringo and i have already said too much so please if you are fed up with society, help change it!
