Stream Five From Disco Not Disco: Post Punk, Electro & Leftfield Disco Classics 1974-1986
The resurrected Strut label bows with its inaugural release this week, compiling 14 tracks that help mold the foundations of lots of the disco-dance-punk-rock blends bubbling up with the post-millennial indie-based beat frenzy. Hit the disco not disco site for listens of five tunes; if shit like Liaisons Dangereuses' "Los Niños Del Parque" came out today, still it'd kill. And here's a fun game -- pick one of the tracks and ID their blog beloved successors in sound. We'll start with a couple: Shriekback is to !!! what James White & The Blacks + A Number Of Names is to LCD Soundsystem. If you're feeling it -- and you should be -- check some vintage live footage of Liasons, A Number Of Names, and Konk (featuring a young dancing Madonna). Seriously, this is your afternoon right here.
