Frida Hyvönen - "Everybody Hurts"

Frida Hyvönen On "Everybody Hurts"
I heard this song for the first time when I was 14 or 15. I wanted to record this song like an echo of the way it felt to me then, and imagined singing it to console a 14-year-old version of myself.

Frida Hyvönen

Mike Mills On "Everybody Hurts"
"A fairly simple song musically, with a nice electric piano signature on it that's really good, and of course Jonesy did fantastic strings. If anyone is kinda 'uhhh' about it, they've probably heard it too much, that's what happens when you have songs that become big hits. When you have a song like that or 'Losing My Religion' they tend to pass on from belonging to us to belonging to the world at large."

"Everybody Hurts" lyrics
When the day is long and the
night, the night is yours alone,
when you're sure you've had
enough of this life, well hang on.
Don't let yourself go,
'cause everybody cries
and everybody hurts
sometimes.

Sometimes everything is wrong.
Now it's time to sing along--
When your day is night alone,
if you feel like letting go,
when you think you've had too
much of this life, well hang on.

Everybody hurts. Take comfort
in your friends.
Everybody hurts.

Don't throw your hand. Oh, no.
Don't throw your hand.
If you feel like you're alone,
no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life,
the days and nights are long,
when you think you've had too
much of this life to hang on.

Well, everybody hurts--
sometimes--
everybody cries.
everybody hurts----- sometimes.
everybody hurts, sometimes.

So, hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on.

I woudn't expect anyone to ever cover THAT song....
But I must say, I like the approach of this band. Interesting!

this is the truly the best cover of that song i´ve heard in a long time. 10000 times better than the meat puppets version and a very unique take. congratulations!

In general I like covers that have a very different approach to the original song. This is very similar to R.E.M.s version. However it deserves an audience. The singer has a beautiful voice. It is so well done. Please take the time to listen.

like i said to frida herself in july (i bet she's forgotten it though), she's probably the best female singer in sweden. at least in my taste. it's her and miss li.
