Best TV Show

This is the year of Tina Fey, so it's no surprise that 30 Rock topped the first ever Best TV Show category. And with The Office in the #2 spot, Thursday must be your favorite night for television. The highest charting non-comedy is LOST, which remains great even though we think the show's writers are as confused as we are. People found some historical inaccuracies in Mad Men, but that's only because they cared enough to obsessively analyze it. The Wire was captivating in its finale season (we'll miss you McNulty) and Gossip Girl is a genius. No reality shows here, but on the satirical news front The Daily Show With Jon Stewart (#10) beat out counterpart The Colbert Report. True Blood and Entourage were not far out of the top ten even though they are terrible.

Good list, especially nice to see Mad Men. Hopefully, Friday Night Lights will be No. 1 in 2009, because season 3 fucking kills it.

Hmm, pretty great list except for Gossip Girl and House. Those two can just be swapped in my mind with Colbert and Pushing Daisies (R.I.P.) or something.

Allah

I don't give two shits if it's not quite as funny as it once was, South Park should really always be in the top 10.

good to finally see that someone else hates entourage. i live in a frat house...and i think out of 25 guys I am the only one who hates it. although to their credit, most of them do like Arrested Development...which is always a plus.

Agree.

I also have to say that Sunny and House haven't been deserving of placing so high up this year.

Colbert should have tied with the Daily Show.

But glad to see that Dexter is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

Agreed. I'm glad someone else likes Countdown. But really, Mad Med should be number one! And the Colbert Report should be on the list. Did anyone see "Operation Humble Kanye"? Funniest thing on TV.

I'm pretty bummed The Wire is done. That was my pick for #1. The 5 seasons as a whole go down as the best television series ever created for me. It is a shame more people didn't watch it. Do yourself a favor, begin with season 1 and watch all the seasons in order. You can't really do it any other way. I'm glad my friend convinced me to do so. 30 Rock is my second favorite, so it is good to see it take #1 none the less.

If Pushing Daisies was so awesome, why was it canceled? Mind you, I never saw the show. But, WTF? Gossip Girls?! What is wrong with you people? I can tolerate the others, like House...but GG? My, oh my.

Glad to see 30 Rock top the list, that show is seriously underrated in most circles. And seeing Gossip Girl on the list is a pleasant surprise. I never thought I would, but I love it.

the wire, californication, dexter, mad men, life and times of tim

so mad the wire is over with, best show, most unique show on television since it came on. i wish more people watched life and times of tim, it is a new hilarious, intelligent animated show (i think of it as the animated equivalent of curb your enthusiasm but with 'boldness' replaced with feebleness.

House has really gone downhill the past two years to the point that it is almost unbearable; and Lost will always be awful and confusing (in my mind it's worse than True Blood) - but I agree with the others. Well, except Gossip Girl - but I understand why it's entertaining.

I wish "Always Sunny" had been at number 1, or at least beaten "30 Rock," because I definitely think it's funnier.

Also, I am extremely dissappointed that "The Colbert Report" didn't make it and "The Daily Show" did. I find Colbert to be at least like 200 times funnier than Jon Stewart, who to me seems to be an obnoxious, more-overtly partisan shill.

(Not that I don't share Steward and Colbert's views, but I think Colbert is much better at simply going for good laughs rather than partisan jabs.)
