Don't Make Jamie Lidell's Feel Good Go Away

Don't Make Jamie Lidell's Feel Good Go Away

Jamie ditches straight-soul sound and the sorcerer's headdress for an irresistibly funked up sound on this clip of a new tune, straight from the studio.

Wired Proves It:

Wired Proves It: "The RIAA thinks that ripping CDs is illegal."

Remember that mess at the beginning of the year, when the Washington Post interpreted an RIAA legal brief as saying the agency's official position is that ripping CDs for personal use is illegal? Well the RIAA's president took to NPR to try to deny it, but Wired ain't buying -- and they have "two very clear pieces of evidence" to prove that the RIAA prez was lying. (via)

You Say ... Five Questions Not To Ask Lisa Loeb

You Say ... Five Questions Not To Ask Lisa Loeb

Reality biter and ex-Dweezil Zappa-er Lisa Loeb is guest blogging for Forward next week. Here's an example of what not to ask her: "I'm a lover in love but my lover is running away. She also beats me. What should I do?" Four more where that came from.

On Top Of Pancake Mountain

On Top Of Pancake Mountain

In a profile about Pancake Mountain, Scott Stuckey, the man behind our beloved Rufus, discusses the possibility of the public access show moving to a network. "Unlike some D.I.Y. characters," he tells Condé Nast, "I believe that for the belly of the beast to change, you have to get inside." Hard to know what that means when it's a puppeteer talking.

Mother Apologies For Hannah Montana Hoax

Mother Apologies For Hannah Montana Hoax

"The Texas mother who helped her daughter win a Hannah Montana essay contest by making up a story about the girl's father being a soldier killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq says she made a terrible mistake and hopes she can be forgiven." See, she's sorry. Now WILL SOMEONE PLEASE RETURN HER EYEBROWS?

"In Rainbows is, at least in our opinion, our classic album - our Transformer, our Revolver, our Hunky Dory."

A simply awesome Thom interview, in which, among other things, we find out just how many people paid the maximum allowed £99.99 for the In Rainbows download: 15! Betcha they remember each one of those 15's name, too. Which would make for the ultimate icebreaker next time you bump into the band hanging out with Britt Daniel at HiFi.

OK Go Cover Lo-Fi Local TV Ad Jingle, To The Delight Of At Least One Blogger

OK Go Cover Lo-Fi Local TV Ad Jingle, To The Delight Of At Least One Blogger

Does the phrase "Nobody Bodders Me" mean anything to you? Then you probably didn't have access to D.C.-area television growing up, and you definitely don't remember that crazy catchy commercial for Jhoon Rhee's Taekwondo. Don't worry, neither did we. But OK Go apparently did and now they're covering the tune live, allowing Thighs Wide Shut to come full circle on a story arc begun in 2004. It's a nice turn for TWS, and the most blogger attention OK Go's had since the treadmills bit. So, happy endings all around.

Apples On Autopilot

Live footage of the Apples collides with stock NASA imagery in the David Gray-concocted video for "Eyes Open." Sorry Robert, we liked HEALTH's aerodynamic fan-made stock video better.

Bodies Of Water Hate Your Favorite Band

Bodies Of Water Hate Your Favorite Band

Best way for a blog-buzzed band to alienate as many music fans as possible? Write on your website "I can't understand why anyone likes these musical groups and singers: Wilco, Jeff Buckley, Elvis Costello, The Police, Slint, Rush, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Afghan Whigs. Perhaps you are offended by this. If so, I feel glad. You need to be shaken up. You need to have whatever skewed values you've cultivated over the years CHALLENGED. Listen again to this stuff - you will see that it is junk." The original post has since been deleted, demonstrating either a return to senses, or having sobered up. We're betting it was a little bit of both.

Thom Yorke On The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year

Thom Yorke On The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year

Understandably, jaws are left slacked when Thom turns up via video to ask the "celebrity" panel a question regarding In Rainbows on this British quiz show. All jaws save Lily Allen's, which is quick to start flapping on about how the free download bit was "bad precedent," pooping on the party. She hasn't even delivered yet and already she sounds like my mom.

Presidential Politics

WSJ takes a look at the campaign trail playlists. Giuliani uses Rascal Flatts, Clinton rocks Big Head Todd, but worst of all is Fred Thompson's Subterranean Homesick Blues. Meanwhile, Dubya remains an R.E.M. fan.
