New Art Brut Video - "Alcoholics Unanimous"

Eddie Argos doesn't feel great on this new Art Brut single. Probably the entire Frank Black-produced album, really; it's called Art Brut Vs. Satan, and in this case the devil's in the details of his issues with drinking, group texts,...  CONTINUE READING NEW ART BRUT VIDEO - "ALCOHOLICS UNANIMOUS"»

New Art Brut - "Alcoholics Unanimous"

The first track on Art Brut's forthcoming "punk-as-fuck," Black Francis-produced Art Brut Vs. Satan is "Alcoholics Unanimous." The tale of drinking too much and dealing with it the next day isn't especially harrowing -- we're expecting later songs like "Demons...  CONTINUE READING NEW ART BRUT - "ALCOHOLICS UNANIMOUS"»

Art Brut Also Pissed At EMI

EMI's on anything but terra firma these days and as we've seen this past year, and now you can add Art Brut to the list of rock stars going public with their tales of label incompetence. The label has Art...  CONTINUE READING ART BRUT ALSO PISSED AT EMI»

Art Brut Take Their Turn Shilling For T-Mobile

In case you missed it: T-Mobile ran the next in its line of hipster-friendly adverts during last night's Grammy telecast (the first coming during the American Music Awards, so, yay symmetry). Non indie-focused friends in the room during last night's...  CONTINUE READING ART BRUT TAKE THEIR TURN SHILLING FOR T-MOBILE»

Art Brut Review Photo Equipment

Finally, you get to know these guys' opinions on cameras! In review of the Casio Exilim EX-V8, Eddie Argos says: "We didnt use the YouTube feaure. The dumb things we do always end up there. That keg stand was ironic!" So his singing voice is not irony, but the keg stand was? Dunno, that seemed like some genuine enjoyment. Unless he's using "ironic" ironically, which is so meta it just blew the trucker cap off my mustache.

Christmas No. 1's

It's getting to be that most wonderful time of the year -- chestnuts, snowmen, presents, Santa, and in England at least, the coveted "Christmas #1." Crazy that the top of the charts at XMastime is so huge over there. It's...  CONTINUE READING CHRISTMAS NO. 1'S»

Austin City Limits '07: Hot Freaks! Afterparties (Grizzly Bear, Art Brut, The Rosebuds, Sparrow House, St. Vincent)

After navigating the throngs of Fest folks looking for transportation from Zilker Park (pedicabs were the order of the weekend, though we had good cab karma), downtown afterparty options were plentiful. But few were free, and fewer still exclusively...  CONTINUE READING AUSTIN CITY LIMITS '07: HOT FREAKS! AFTERPARTIES (GRIZZLY BEAR, ART BRUT, THE ROSEBUDS, SPARROW HOUSE, ST. VINCENT)»

New Art Brut Video - "Direct Hit"

We've been curiously quiet about '05 faves Art Brut's latest release and to explain, well it's actually not a bit complicated -- as figured, Eddie's talkie witticisms don't have quite the same impact the second go around. Then again, "Post...  CONTINUE READING NEW ART BRUT VIDEO - "DIRECT HIT"»

Art Brut's It's A Bit Complicated Cover

Gotta hand it to Art Brut for their forthcoming record's literalist artwork. 'Cause using a protractor IS a bit complicated. You can hear a trio of songs from the new record -- "Direct Hit," "Nag Nag Nag Nag," and "Late...  CONTINUE READING ART BRUT'S IT'S A BIT COMPLICATED COVER»

Gilmore Girls Indie Talk Overload

Sometimes we have Gilmore Girls nights. Especially when we're asked (forced) to.
