Still, the battle for most ridiculous mock-musician timesuck springs eternal: Meet Lego Rock Band, the video game...  CONTINUE READING IGGY, BOWIE GET LEGOFIED FOR LEGO ROCK BAND»

David Bowie On David Bowie: "I'm Still Enamoured Of This Song And Would Give You Two 'Modern Loves' For It Any Time."

We've spoken about that recent electro-tinged Bowie covers album Life Beyond Mars. Well, the man himself one-upped the comp with a free CD that appeared with the Sunday Daily Mail. Bowie selected his favorite Bowie. As he put it in...  CONTINUE READING DAVID BOWIE ON DAVID BOWIE: "I'M STILL ENAMOURED OF THIS SONG AND WOULD GIVE YOU TWO 'MODERN LOVES' FOR IT ANY TIME."»

New Scarlett Johansson (Feat. David Bowie) - "Falling Down"

Another week, another taste of Scarlett doing Waits. Nothing's changing about our feelings on this record: it is barely average, with decent-to-good Sitek production, forgettable vocals, and fabulous guest spots. We listened to it at Joe's Pub over the winter...  CONTINUE READING NEW SCARLETT JOHANSSON (FEAT. DAVID BOWIE) - "FALLING DOWN"»

Heroes Taps Wilco, Death Cab, My Morning Jacket, The Jesus & Mary Chain For Soundtrack

Heroes doesn't normally give us a lot of reasons to mention it, as pop music is rarely incorporated into their scenes about staving off the apocalypse. Bowie On ScarJo's Waits Covers

We've been talking a bit about Scarlett Johansson's Waits covers recently, but now Ziggy Stardust has spoken. As we mentioned, David Bowie sings on Anywhere I Lay My Head, more specifically on "Falling Down' and "Fannin' Street." Seems like he dug the experience. As he posted on his official site, "The songs are great, really good Tom Waits stuff, and Scarlett's performances are mystical and twice cool." Yeah, we often think Scarlett's twice cool, too. He adds, "She creates a mood that could have been summoned by someone like Margery Latimer or Jeanette Winterson." Nice way to drop in a reference to the author of Sexing The Cherry, you dog.
