Feist Performs On Colbert, Has Indie Rock DNA And Dual Citizenship

In Leslie's Colbert Report interview we learn that she received dual-citizenship for doing that iPod commercial (truthiness questionable), she uses the word "spangliness," she has indie rock "sewn up in [her] DNA," and her pyrotechnics aren't as impressive as Roger...  CONTINUE READING FEIST PERFORMS ON COLBERT, HAS INDIE ROCK DNA AND DUAL CITIZENSHIP»

Feist Takes Home A Handful Of Junos

Last night in Calgary, Alberta, Leslie Feist was the toast of the Junos, taking home top honors for the year's best single ("1234"), album, pop album, alongside trophies for top artist and songwriter. That's 1, 2, 3, 4 ... 5,...  CONTINUE READING FEIST TAKES HOME A HANDFUL OF JUNOS»

New Feist - "I Feel It All (Britt From Spoon Remix)"

Feist's "I Feel It All" single comes stacked with a few instances of the ultimate promotional tool: the remix. Fair enough, some of you were getting a little restless at the remix glut after we took a listen to Grizzly Bear's stabs and flourishes at the track, but it's worth noting that Chilly Gonzales and Britt sort of kill it. Gonzales's version is a total track transformation (think sexy, dusky, dancefloor). And as mentioned, Britt adds to the track by cutting stuff away, reforming Leslie's rollicking roots rock tune by sculpting it in his own band's image. The result is as spare and lean as a Spoon track with no guitars necessary: just a taut thwumping bass line, a tambourine, and a rising and ebbing and echoing Feist vocal. Nice job, Britt From Spoon.

Grizzly Bear And Spoon Remix Feist

Even when Leslie's wielding an explosive stick, it can be difficult remembering she has more tunes than one iPod commercial. This week, though, Arts & Crafts are giving us a reminder (ha) that, yes, Feist can do more than count to four by releasing the "I Feel It All" single with remixes by Britt Daniel, Gonzales, and Grizzly Bear. The former two take on the single, Grizzly do The Reminder's first single "My Moon My Man." So far there's just a clip of the Grizz mix, but 'tis a pretty, flourish-filled clip indeed, my man. Feist Wins Shortlist Music Prize For The Reminder

We'd say this is a nice cap off to Leslie's big year, but does anybody really care about the Shortlist? The Reminder did beat the likes of Kala, Sound Of Silver, †, Neon Bible, and Burial's Untrue for the award,...  CONTINUE READING FEIST WINS SHORTLIST MUSIC PRIZE FOR THE REMINDER»
