New Thom Yorke - "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses"/"The Hollow Earth"

The digitally minded Radiohead man's new 12" arrived ahead of schedule for some today, and was immediately ripped and megauploaded right on schedule. Earlier this month, Thom described "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses" as a "radical rework of an old...  CONTINUE READING NEW THOM YORKE - "FEELING PULLED APART BY HORSES"/"THE HOLLOW EARTH"»

There Will Be Popcorn

This, is how you multi-task. On the very same evening, last week, Jonny Greenwood had two pieces of his authorship make live premieres: In Rainbows, front to back at 93 Feet East, and modern classical triumph Popcorn Superhet Receiver 3,470 miles west. Of course he was only in one of those places (Radiohead takes priority in these situations for some reason), but under another conductor's hand Popcorn made its American debut at the church of St. Paul The Apostle in Manhattan, as part of the Wordless Music Series. Obviously Jonny's day job has us biased, but it sounds rather gorgeous -- and maybe if someone from AMPAS was in attendance they would've been moved to bend those Oscar rules a little. Stream the performance at WNYC.

The Academy Would Really Like To Recognize The Songs Of Enchanted

Our look into Jonny Greenwood's odds at winning the Oscar started by presciently realizing, "first he'll have to get nominated." Of course we figured he was a shoo-in, and of course we were wrong. Variety pissed all over Jonny's hopes...  CONTINUE READING THE ACADEMY WOULD REALLY LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THE SONGS OF ENCHANTED»
