All Tomorrow's Parties NY: Polvo, Les Savy Fav, Lightning Bolt Rock The Catskills

By Amrit Singh & Brandon Stosuy After a night of front-to-back ATP-approved "classics," it was nice to tackle a day of unpredictable sets. We missed the earliest acts -- Apse, Australia's garage rockers (and fine live band) the Drones, Growing,...  CONTINUE READING ALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES NY: POLVO, LES SAVY FAV, LIGHTNING BOLT ROCK THE CATSKILLS»

Coachella: Friday In Photos

By Amrit Singh & Brandon Stosuy You know what sucked for every band following Les Savy Fav yesterday? The fact that they had to follow Les Savy Fav yesterday. Under intensely blazing Indio heat, Harrington and his hockey blogging...  CONTINUE READING COACHELLA: FRIDAY IN PHOTOS»

Les Savy Fav Cover Superchunk, Take Us Back To Atlanta 2005

Those are two different actions, by the way. Anyhow, it's fun watching Les Sav Fav live. We might've said that before. Turns out, it's also fun listening to them live, like without Tim Harrington's stripteases. LSF are releasing a digital-only...  CONTINUE READING LES SAVY FAV COVER SUPERCHUNK, TAKE US BACK TO ATLANTA 2005»

Vampire Weekend, The Hold Steady, Girl Talk To Crash 2008 Capitol Hill Block Party

We all need one more festival, right? Guess nobody sells records these days, so live shows are where it's at, etc. Anyhow, if you're in the Seattle area, you can just about ride SP20 into the Stranger's 11th annual Capitol...  CONTINUE READING VAMPIRE WEEKEND, THE HOLD STEADY, GIRL TALK TO CRASH 2008 CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY»

Les Savy Fav's Syd Butler Blogs About Hockey

Tim Harrington's resumé of extracurriculars is extensive -- from drug culture expert to proprietor of home and apparel company Deadly Squire to malaria spokesman -- but you don't need a beard, a belly, and a showman's magnetism to find life...  CONTINUE READING LES SAVY FAV'S SYD BUTLER BLOGS ABOUT HOCKEY»

New Live Les Savy Fav - "Sweat Descends"

Nobody needs to tell you Tim Harrington and the Savy Fav put on a righteous live show. In recent years, maybe you saw the sunburned shamanism on display during our show at McCarren Pool a couple of summers ago. Or...  CONTINUE READING NEW LIVE LES SAVY FAV - "SWEAT DESCENDS"»

Les Savy Fav Strip Their Way Through "Patty Lee" On Conan

Last night manic street punkers Les Savy Fav got their second big break, bringing the "Patty Lee" dance party to Conan's house. Tim starts as a superhero, but you get a sense of where things are headed when the cape comes off and the hips start gyrating a bit. The sliced bird head, that's still a little wtf. Bonusly, you'll find even more reasons to think Tim Harrington is the coolest man alive: He picks up after himself. What a great guest.

Conan giving a post-performance bow is a sign that they should be back in the future. That shit was deadly squire.

New Les Savy Fav Video - "What Would Wolves Do"

2007 was sort of a breakthrough year for the Savy ones, winning notable year-end love from not entirely expected outlets and cornering the market for indie rock malaria awareness. Now they're answering their on hypothetical questions; if this vid is...  CONTINUE READING NEW LES SAVY FAV VIDEO - "WHAT WOULD WOLVES DO"»

What Would Mosquitoes Do

Every time we turn around seems like deadly squire Tim Harrington's up to some sorta video hijinx, be they dropping drug lingo, monkeying around backstage before Les Savy Fav's big break, or now, dressing up like a mosquito and hassling...  CONTINUE READING WHAT WOULD MOSQUITOES DO»

Les Savy Fav's Big Break

Those lovable NY art-punks Les Savy Fav have schooled us on drug lingo and perfume ads and patterned products, but gearing up for last week's Randall Island show with Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Blonde Redhead, and Wild Light, the "obscure...  CONTINUE READING LES SAVY FAV'S BIG BREAK»

New Les Savy Fav Video - "Patty Lee"

For the fun-loving falsetto/party-punk part of Let's Stay Friends gem "Patty Lee" (and some of the subsequent descent into creepier corners), this here vid stars but one lovely lass, working a one-chaired (and otherwise bare) stage with some good-for-an-amateur dance...  CONTINUE READING NEW LES SAVY FAV VIDEO - "PATTY LEE"»

Quit Your Day Job: Les Savy Fav

Gather Your Friends For Les Savy Fav's Let's Stay Friends Video Contest

New Les Savy Fav - "What Would Wolves Do"

Warm & Scratchy

Not that the subsequent Beantown overreaction wasn't amusing, adult swim, but as far as publicity campaigns go, we prefer the release of a free album of indie cuts to guerrilla Lite-Brite-planting tactics any day. The off-kilter cartoon network offers up...  CONTINUE READING WARM & SCRATCHY»

A Lesson In Drug Culture From Tim Harrington & Brian Teasley

The great zine Chunklet and Super Deluxe had Les Savy Fav's Tim Harrington and The Polyphonic Spree's Brian Teasley make hams of themselves on the streets during SXSW. Tim's a natural. Surprised? Nor-wave Goodbye To Oslo: Stereogum @ Øya 2006

One thing to know about Oslo: Most people are honest (except cabbies), friendly (except customs agents), extremely beautiful (no exceptions), and obsessed with the export of their arts. So Øya is ostensibly an international festival, drawing on credible, on-the-rise indie...  CONTINUE READING NOR-WAVE GOODBYE TO OSLO: STEREOGUM @ ØYA 2006»
