Touch Me I'm Going To Stream (In An Internet Jukebox) If You Don't

You've likely been prematurely evaluating Evil Urges for weeks now, but give credit to MMJ for exploring another mode of experimentation with pre-release album hyping: the internet jukebox preview system. Wired's got a piece detailing how MMJ are helping open...  CONTINUE READING TOUCH ME I'M GOING TO STREAM (IN AN INTERNET JUKEBOX) IF YOU DON'T»

An MP3 Mix For Your Memorial Day

It's totally reductive to associate Memorial Day Weekend solely with drinking and eating (and not, you know, Memorializing), but here it is, that special weekend custom made for welcoming summer, getting drunk, and eating bbq, and yay for that. Before...  CONTINUE READING AN MP3 MIX FOR YOUR MEMORIAL DAY»

My Morning Jacket Bring Their "Amazed," "Evil Urges" To SNL

This weekend's MacGruber-friendly Saturday Night Live episode featured Shia The Motherfucking Beef and musical guest My Morning Jacket. Jim James probably didn't want to scare America and so he kept "Highly Suspicious" on the sidelines. Instead MMJ catered to the...  SNL'">CONTINUE READING MY MORNING JACKET BRING THEIR "AMAZED," "EVIL URGES" TO SNL»

Coachella: Sunday In Photos

By Amrit Singh & Brandon Stosuy When we arrived Sunday we didn't have to wait in line or battle our way through the parking lots. Not because we're some important VIP's -- there just wasn't anyone there. The crowd...  CONTINUE READING COACHELLA: SUNDAY IN PHOTOS»

Premature Evaluation: My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges

Let's get this out of the way first: The worst part of Evil Urges is the admittedly crapola cover art. But then, nobody buys records these days anyhow, so that shouldn't be much of a problem (oh, how we kid...  CONTINUE READING PREMATURE EVALUATION: MY MORNING JACKET - EVIL URGES»

Newport Folk Festival Announces 2008 Lineup

Maybe some of the festivals we've been announcing are too loud for the folkier souls out there (Devendra). If that's the case, the Newport Folk Festival just unveiled their '08 lineup and new Dunkin' Donuts-free name. The longstanding fest's 49th...  CONTINUE READING NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2008 LINEUP»

Evening Streaming: Unreleased Goodness From Death Cab, MMJ, Wolf Parade

Did we hear you say you wanted more tablas on the new Death Cab record? Awesome, you will love "Pity and Fear." My Morning Jacket Showcase Their Evil Urges In Houston

We were already way too excited for MMJ's long-awaited Z follow-up Evil Urges, out June 10th on ATO. Heroes Taps Wilco, Death Cab, My Morning Jacket, The Jesus & Mary Chain For Soundtrack

Heroes doesn't normally give us a lot of reasons to mention it, as pop music is rarely incorporated into their scenes about staving off the apocalypse. All Eyes On My Morning Jacket

In a real show of teamwork (and product tie-ins), the fans whipped out their digital cameras and cells to shoot MMJ and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra performing "Gideon" at the Chicago Lollapalooza. (Remember?) Good to see Perry looking so spry. At the beginning of the resulting video we're told "every clip was used." Yes, even that inevitable shot of some dude's flat ass.
