M.I.A. Is Particular About Her Cheese

It tends to be a pretty good time when The Smoking Gun unearths these rocker tour riders. Mostly because we get to laugh at musicians' uncensored, exorbitant, diva-like demands and feel pretty good that we're nowhere near that silly as...  CONTINUE READING M.I.A. IS PARTICULAR ABOUT HER CHEESE»

Rage Have Their Power Cut, Use Their Mouths Instead At The RNC

Today we finally get to know what a crowd of people doing a cappella versions of Zack de la Rocha's protest songs sounds like. It goes something like "bow-bow-bow-bow-chikka-chikka-chikka." RATM turned up in St. Paul to perform a short set...  CONTINUE READING RAGE HAVE THEIR POWER CUT, USE THEIR MOUTHS INSTEAD AT THE RNC»

Indie Rockers Join Forces For Obama (Again)

Tonight Barack Obama cements his nomination as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States of America while Radiohead cement their position as a band that really likes to do webcasts. Last night's portion of the DNC had a...  CONTINUE READING INDIE ROCKERS JOIN FORCES FOR OBAMA (AGAIN)»

Lollapalooza 2008: Saturday In Photos, Rage Delivers Bruises

By Scott Lapatine & Amrit Singh Saturday was mostly just your standard, hot, sold out, music-filled day at Lolla. Until Rage. Wilco were great and photogenic in the Nudie, but after getting texts about some hairy stampede action at the...  CONTINUE READING LOLLAPALOOZA 2008: SATURDAY IN PHOTOS, RAGE DELIVERS BRUISES»

New One Day As A Lion (Zack de la Rocha, Jon Theodore) - "Wild International"

Zack De La Rocha Is Finally About To Release Some New Music

It's not quite the DJ Shadow and ?uestlove collabing effort once promised, and it's nothing to do with those shelved Trent Reznor sessions, but whatever, Zack is officially ready to return to a recorded format near you. The project's dubbed...  CONTINUE READING ZACK DE LA ROCHA IS FINALLY ABOUT TO RELEASE SOME NEW MUSIC»

Lollapalooza 2008 Headliners, Partial Lineup Leaked

Big Day Out 2008

This past weekend a couple Big Days Out took pace down under (Friday in Aukland and Sunday at the Gold Coast) with LCD Soundsystem, Björk, Rage Against The Machine, Battles, Kate Nash, Billy Bragg, Silverchair, and Arcade Fire, among others. Rage's set (along with Tom Morello's solo turn as the Night Watchman) was expectedly political, but doesn't sound like Win Butler was caught making Obama orations -- or, at least not in the clip we found of "Black Mirror." As far as Björk and Co., they kept the ass-kicking on stage. The next Big Day stop's this Friday in Sydney.

New Nightwatchman Video - "Alone Without You"

Definitely (definitely) appreciate the sentiments Tom Morello's gettin' baritone 'n' Crash Test Dummies about in "Alone Without You," but the song itself leaves something to be desired: Like, seriously, we weren't surprised to learn he returned to his hotel after...  CONTINUE READING NEW NIGHTWATCHMAN VIDEO - "ALONE WITHOUT YOU"»

Coachella: Rage Fans Didn't Like Crowded House

Like the Jesus & Mary Chain, Crowded House got their "unofficial" reunion show out of the way at Glass House on 4/27, where they joked about expecting a hostile crowd of mainly Rage reunion seekers. Prescient thought, 'cause despite taking...  CONTINUE READING COACHELLA: RAGE FANS DIDN'T LIKE CROWDED HOUSE»

Coachella: Rage Against The Machine Reunite

"Killing In The Name" was particularly insane; you haven't lived until you've yelled "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me," pumping fists with 60,000 sunburned kids in the desert. The audience expected, and received, the most politically-charged set...  CONTINUE READING COACHELLA: RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE REUNITE»
