Fred Schneider Punches Up Scott McClellan's White House Tell-All

Politics on Stereogum? Thank the B-52s. Former White House Press Secretary Scott McLellan wrote a book called What Happened about how the White House was allegedly deceitful about the Iraq war, which was apparently motivated by geopolitical strategy and an...  CONTINUE READING FRED SCHNEIDER PUNCHES UP SCOTT MCCLELLAN'S WHITE HOUSE TELL-ALL»

New B-52s Video - "Funplex"

We first heard "Funplex" in its Fred Schneider-skimpy iTunes sample. Luckily, in the video for the track, we get to see our favorite B-52 adeptly driving around on a Segway (biggie drink in tote), harassing the gals in a food...  CONTINUE READING NEW B-52S VIDEO - "FUNPLEX"»

New B-52's - "Hot Corner"

When we wrote about B-52's "Funplex," from the album of the same name, we bemoaned the lack of Fred Schneider in the iTunes sample. Well, fans of catchy non sequiturs need wait no longer because the totally fun "Hot Corner" is Schneider rich: "He's a mess, but he's really pretty," "hey y'all last call, last chance to dance ... whoooo!," "tragically hot, show what you got," etc. Tin roof, not rusty! This might be their first album since 1992, but damn if they haven't lost a dance step. There's also a brief interview with Kate, where she talks about meeting Peaches and digging Björk and Joe Strummer's solo material. Also: "I like Amy Winehouse, Beck, Miss Dynamite and this Canadian band called StinkMitt." (Introducing, StinkMitt and their "Push It" modification.)

New B-52's - "Funplex"

Athens' greatest party band are back with Funplex, their first album since 1992's Good Stuff. (We're guessing a "Funplex" is similar to the "Love Shack," only less famous.) The album's out 3/25 on Astralwerks, but you can purchase the eponymous single over at iTunes. If you're truly curious, you'll have to shell out the .99 -- the little sample's really lacking in the Fred Schneider department. Where's my umbrella, indeed.
