New The Boy Least Likely To Video - "When Life Gives Me Lemons I Make Lemonade"

Just when you thought the Boy Least Likely To couldn't be any more twee. The Jayne Vidheecharoen directed video for "When Life Gives Me Lemons I Make Lemonade" is so sweet as fuck it almost hurts. A little knitted bird...  CONTINUE READING NEW THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO VIDEO - "WHEN LIFE GIVES ME LEMONS I MAKE LEMONADE"»

New The Boy Least Likely To Video - "A Balloon On A Broken String"

The Law Of The Playground videos are starting to come the fast and the furiously. The clip for looking-California-feeling-Minnesota ditty "A Balloon On A Broken String" fuses the cheery hijinx of Every Goliath Has Its David" with the outdoorsy, downcast...  CONTINUE READING NEW THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO VIDEO - "A BALLOON ON A BROKEN STRING"»

New The Boy Least Likely To Video - "Every Goliath Has Its David" (Stereogum Premiere)

For their last video, Pete and Jof went on location in Scotland, combing beaches, hitchhiking, walking over bridges and past cows all in pursuit of the first snowflake and blowing their entire video budget for their forthcoming LP. And so...  CONTINUE READING NEW THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO VIDEO - "EVERY GOLIATH HAS ITS DAVID" (STEREOGUM PREMIERE)»

New The Boy Least Likely To - "Every Goliath Has Its David"

In their recent Progress Report, Pete & Jof said things like "mournful" and "bleak" in reference to their forthcoming The Law Of The Playground LP's lyrics, descriptors nobody first associates with TBLLT. And here they're on about their "puppy powers"...  CONTINUE READING NEW THE BOY LEAST LIKELY TO - "EVERY GOLIATH HAS ITS DAVID"»

New The Boy Least Likely To Video - "The First Snowflake"

It's been two years since Pete and Jof hosted The Best Party Ever, and since we've been given just scraps and bits from their forthcoming, yet untitled record. New The Boy Least Likely To - "A Balloon On A Broken String" / "TBLLT Is A Machine"

There was a good six-month stretch in late '05/early '06 where twee-set UK outfit The Boy Least Likely To were unavoidable: great debut, blogger-packed US debut show in the Meatpacking District's now-gone R&R club (with cupcakes and balloons -- seriously), tons of SXSW gigs, etc. The Boys core duo Peter and Jof seemed to take 2007 off, but today they announce the posting of two new songs from their next record: "A Balloon" has has the carefree levity you'd expect from that title, but "The Boy Least Likely To Is A Machine" is far from the cheery whimsy of The Greatest Party Ever stuff like say "Apple Wagon," which was, at its core, about apple wagons and stars. There's no big "Be Gentle With Me" hit here (yet anyway), but it's interesting to hear them indulging in slightly darker sounds. Hope they still bring cupcakes this time, though.
