Micah P. Hinson - "'Tell Me It Aint So"
The new album Micah P Hinson And The Red Empire Orchestra, by gravelly voiced Texas songwriter Micah P. Hinson and his Red Empire Orchestra, is out 7/14 on Full Time Hobby. The first single, "When We Embraced," showed up 6/2, but another track -- in our opinion, the album's standout -- shows up for the first time in today's Drop. We asked Hinson what inspired the song and, more specifically, "Who are the ghosts chattering down the hallway?" Hinson responded indirectly, but his honesty offers straightforward insight into the track.

Thanks for your interest in the song. I feel quite close to that particular one. As far as all the particular questions, I'll need to apologize, as they are a bit too personal, and I wouldn't feel comfortable answering them. As I said, I am quite close to the song, so I truly can't find it within myself to break it down on such a personal level.
From the outside looking in though, I think a way to describe, or rather explain, the song is by looking at it from a "humanity"- esque point of view. I think a good amount of people would agree that sometimes in life they find themselves striving for, or chasing after, things they truly have no business being involved with, whether it endangers themselves or others. I think the song is about living a regretful life and stupidly asking themselves, a God, or the universe to not force them to reap the punishment or consequence of their actions. I believe a lot of people want to get out of situations easily. People don't want to face consequences, but facing and learning from consequences is the only way a man, woman, or child will learn how to grow up and be an honest and good human being. To me, that seems the purpose of life- to learn and understand compassion, empathy, love, and character.
I hope this answers your questions to a certain degree.

New Jonathan Boulet Video - "A Community Service Announcement"
This dude's the latest signing to Australia's Modular label, landing with a tidy package of promotional offerings: a catchy, moistly breezy indie-pop debut single that couldn't be better titled for a meet-the-artist track; a subtly arresting/marginally tricked-out video; and a... (more)
New El Guincho - "Antillas (XXXchange Remix)"
When we first heard onetime BTW Pablo Díaz-Reixa, aka El Guincho, we were drawn in by "Antillas," a song we described as "a five-minute bundle of clattering loops and sunny harmonies." It was from the self-released Alegranza!, before he'd signed... (more)
