Luke Temple - "Into Fiction"

Luke Temple
When you put the words "Brooklyn" and "folk" together a certain image arises, but thankfully Luke Temple shatters the worn picture (frame and all). This week's Drop is the tapping, slightly fuzzed, antique barber-harmonized "Into Fiction," which would pair well with Phosphorescent's "Little Boxes" in its a.m.-transmitted vibe. Temple recently released his sophomore album Snowbeast on Mill Pond, which includes the lovely, near falsetto "Family Vacation," but "Into Fiction"'s a Dropper exclusive, written and recorded specifically for Stereogum. Luke says it took about a day and was put to tape in his bedroom in his Brooklyn apartment adding, "It was written during my first disappearance. I will never sing nor talk of this again." Too bad because he really does wrap his golden tenor around its curious lyricism. If you're in New York, you can catch him live 12/5 at the Bowery Ballroom and 1/17 at Joe's Pub. Let's hope he goes back on his word and gives us a little fiction. [Photo by Marshall Dackert.]
