not to get involved in any debate;
but the beauty of music is that two people can hear completely different things.
metal is a great example,
some people hear sweet beats and passionate screaming while others hear loud noise and mindless pig squeals.
the same concept applies with all music.

and now to actually say something about the new song.
to me half the problem of this new song is the mixing of it.
whatever they were trying to do with his voice this time around doesn't work for him.
the song really has no dynamics, and that seems to be most of the peoples problems.
from My Perspective,
Fix you is brilliant song, because they were able to break out of their "musical dullness" (some would call it). That was also in my opinion, one of their best mixed songs. and i hear from everyone who has ever seen them that they are amazing live.
i believe this is most likely due to their lack of energy on their albums.
you can decide for yourself.
