I first saw The Thermals at a basement show... but it was in Eugene.

Kettleman's is good, but I don't have the depth of East Coast bagel experience to compare it to.

Seriously, that does seem like an incredible long time. I thought the status quo was to do it the other way around and give it less time to leak...

I haven't been to the Key Arena since Pavement were still a band, but I might have to make the trek up for this one.

"Gay men" also has discriminatory connotations. Maybe you mean "negative" connotations?

And seriously, if you've grown up as a homosexual, an offhand reference like this should be easy to laugh off as what it is. Surely you would have grown a thick skin and be somewhat accustomed to callously-used epithets. Hell, all you need to do is grow up in a small redneck town and not be a good ol' boy and you'll get used to being called a "fag" pretty fast.
