Awesome.

Z was a shift away from the reverb soaked country-ism's of It Still Moves or At Dawn (both rad albums) and it was a great record. The evolution of this band is a lot of fun to watch, and I think that this track is pretty sweet. I can't wait for the rest of this record.

I just have to say that I think that Parachutes is awesome and I love Brian Eno's "pop" music. I couldn't really take X & Y or Rush of Blood to the Head; so I'll give Coldplay one more chance, but if this one sucks I'm just straight up done.

During the "gear smashing" scene, John broke Will's hand. That's why Will didn't play during SXSW. Those guys = hilarious!

I have to say, I'm not all that fond of the album myself. I'm really into the previous two cover albums; the R.E.M. one was fantastic, but this one is just a bit too noisy and unfocused for my taste. One of the things that makes Bjork so unique is her ability to ride the knife of melody and chaos and I feel like most of these artists just tried too hard to mount the same line. The fact that Stereogum keeps doing this sort of thing and giving it away is incredible though; mad props for the effort. Keep it up, I can't wait for the next one.

I dug it. You're right about the Phish-y intro though; and once upon a time, I would have said that was a good thing. Nowadays, not so much...

Does anyone know what the cover song was she played to end the set, and who played it?

Indian Jewelry - "Walking On The Water"

We dug Invasive Exotics, Houston crew Indian Jewelry's 2006 long player, but the feedback feels warmer, the structures more assured, expansive, unhinged and less Doors-y/VU-derived on Free Gold!. In fact, even if you didn't like their older work, you might...
