Wow, Vivian Girls at #7? That sucks for you, Brooklyn.

I realize I am probably going to get flamed to death for this, but I thought the last album these guys did was a terrible piece of sucking crap and sounded like they had they had trained a team of moneys to play a set of broken instruments and then recorded the ensuing distortion-fuzz-equals-artistic-brilliance cacophony and sat around awarding themselves prizes for music and quoting their review on Pitchfork to each other. In other words, everything that's bad about lo-fi music.

However, maybe it's because of discovering Vivian Girls, I didn't mind this song. Dude badly needs to invest in a singing class though.

Honestly I don't think I could put them into a hierarchy like that. I really like Think Tank and Modern Life is Rubbish and Parklife and 13, but I like them all for different reasons. I think I go back to Great Escape and Parklife more than I do to the rest of the catalogue. On first listen I would have said Blur was their weakest album but it grew on me like crazy

Wait, wait, what? Stereogum likes Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors? I, for one, am shocked.

I'm forced to agree about the 'brother musicians' bit, it's not as though every musician is part of some elitist club and it's an asinine thing to say. I just don't think her core point is very inflammatory, even though it's couched in accusatory (not to mention confusing!) language.

I don't know, I don't feel like there's anything that biting here. All she's saying is that Radiohead are lucky to be in a place where they can afford to give away albums without worrying about it, and that just because other bands can't afford to do that financially doesn't mean they are any less devoted to their fanbase.

Also, Mark Ibold is the shit.
