Well, I must admit I don't know much about the seal hunt (basically just that I don't like seeing seals get bludgeoned to death), but as a Canadian, I've heard a lot of compelling arguments to preserve it, in the sense that it's an important part of aboriginal culture, and that to abolish the seal hunt would in some way force certain aboriginal peoples to assimilate and abandon a part of what little tradition they have left. Plus, in certain areas, it's how a lot of them make a living. In any case, I'm still really unsure of certain facts, but I sure would like to find a more reliable source than Wikipedia to find out more. I'm certainly not going to go to PETA for an objective view on the issue...

If Fucked Up doesn't win... well, I guess I don't care that much, but I definitely think they've got the clear winner of that bunch.

Telling people what to do with no justification? Hmm... sounds familiar...

The only thing whiter than Vampire Weekend is talking shit about Vampire Weekend.

This type of long, slow, pretentious filmmaking is totally my bag, but I don't like this video/short very much. Not as painful as it could have been, but it's still melodramatic, pretentious and completely predictable. I like the concept a lot, but the execution is, yeah, really pretentious. The best part about it I think is the cinematography. Oh, and the song of course.

I'm so psyched for this new record. It probably won't be a masterpiece, but it sounds like it'll be great fun. Thanks for the vids!

I should be more surprised by this than I am.

There is so much bullshit surrounding this album. People want soooo badly for it to be great... They're not even talking about the songs! I think this speaks directly about our generation. We'll be known as Gen ADD, and deservedly so. We should all get off our computers, wait until May 26th, then go outside, lie down under a tree and listen to Veckatimest. Actually, you can do what you want, but that's what I'll be doing.

'Dumb acceptance'? Like we have a choice. Music is as accessible as running water these days. It always will be from this point on, unless the internet goes the way of radio and television where it is entirely owned by cable companies (which is not that far-fetched I'm afraid). I swear, people would charge for oxygen if they could...

Well if this track is anything to go by, I think T&G will have a pretty good swan song. The only release I'm more looking forward to this year rhymes with schmizzly bear.

You liked the show where Barney hired actors to be his family? Really? I thought that one was kind of a yawn. And I thought the finale was great! The washcloth obsessed goat, Ted doing his presentation with the hoof mark on his forehead, the rapport between Robin and Barney... I thought it was all pretty brilliant. But I agree that there is a lot you could nitpick with this show, yet I still love it.

There's NO WAY this is real. But if it is, it's hilarious/pathetic. If it isn't, it's hilarious/brilliant satire.

I thought that too. But I don't think that was cynicism people were exhibiting at the beginning, but rather contempt. People have contempt for people they are afraid of becoming. And I don't think the audience members were being self-righteous or hypocritical by lauding her. I think they were relieved. They felt better about themselves because all of a sudden she made them see that you don't need to put yourself through all the stupid and inane things you put yourself through to make yourself feel wanted or socially accepted. We're all insecure, and yet we all pretend that we're not by making fun of the Susan Boyles of the world. But in that single performance, the REAL Susan Boyles reminded us that our superficial insecurities are ultimately useless - and that's why we love her.

It's a joke in relation to the video. Let me guess, you're a Christian?
