For those of you who even vaguely understand the desire to help those with terminal cancers, the absolute best thing you can do is join the National Bone Marrow Registry. Donating stem sells/bone marrow will literally save a life, go to www.DKMSAmericas.org to order a registry kit. My boss's 6 year old daughter is dying of cancer, and needs a donor: www.oneforjasmina.com.

@JRstone Well said my friend! I feel like there are a lot of blogs patting bands on the back just because they don't sound like Ipod commercials. In reality, I think it is much more laudable to create music that is unique and pleasing to the ears. Dissonance and screeching just doesn't do it for me. Wye Oak and The Music Tapes are the only two bands on this list I would pay to see (again). Revolutionary classical composers like Bartok and Stravinsky were able to turn classical music upside down with crazy beats and new sounds that still sounds pleasing and interesting. It can be done.

This is the best love song of 2008, no contenders. Too bad the video is such crap.

TOTALLY an Olsen twin! So glad I didn't have to say it first. I'm pretty excited to see her at CMJ...

I'm wicked excited to see them monday opening for The Dodos at the SpiegelTent (seems oddly fitting that they are playing in a tent, no?)

I love "You are the Best Thing"and I think that Meg White is a great, silly departure from the serious love ballad. Obviously he understands that music doesn't always have to be serious, that it can still be a good song, without the dire overtones.

And Cazzy, I couldn't agree more.....

I might be wrong here, but I am under the impression that labels pay out to radio stations to get their songs played initially, thus negating Mariah Carey, since no self respecting DJ would ever start playing that on his or her own accord.

I saw them at the midnight show at Union Hall, and the people who are accusing them of being boring, probably lack classical music in their lives. The only group I can compare them to are maybe the New York Philharmonic? Although honestly, i'm not sure that they are as tight, captivating or humble as FF.

Not a fan of JK. Like all trends (from Uggs to Pet Rocks) he never quite seems to be taken at face value. I know people are going to hate me for saying it...
