I'd argue that it's not like he rushed out to hear every album that could possibly be plagiarism, but this song was on TV every 5 minutes a few months ago...

fooling? did you listen to it? its remarkably similar not just in melody but chord progression as well. I doubt Coldplay consciously did this, but nipple-dick definitely has a case.

I'm sure Satriani's legal advisors attempted to settle this out of court with the Coldplay camp before ever taking it to the courts. Stuff like this takes time. The courts have have actually required both parties to engage in arbitration before the suit was accepted. Joe Satriani wrote the song "If I Could Fly" for his wife. The song is extremely sentimental in nature and I certainly would not stand by and let some fag-pop band rip it off and then accept a Grammy for it.
