Stream Biffy Clyro Opposites
I wrote a lot about Biffy Clyro last week, when we premiered “Modern Magic Forumla,” from their new album Opposites. Since then, that album has gone to No. 1 in the UK and Biffy has won the NME Award for Best British Band. I can’t think of too many bands I like a whole lot more than Biffy Clyro — and none more deserving of massive, wide-scale success — so these victories give to me a real sense of pride. It’s only a matter of time till they achieve some percentage of that success on this side of the pond, and that time is likely close at hand: with the domestic release of Opposites, which may be their best album (at present it’s my favorite of theirs). There’s some selfish frustration, too — I won’t get to see the band in rooms with double-digit capacity anymore, and it’s in those settings that they really won my heart in the first place — but I get the feeling they bring the same intensity to every room, regardless of size. Anyway, Opposites is streaming now over at Rolling Stone, and I can’t say enough about it. Go listen.
Opposites is out 3/13 via Warners.
