I’m not that familiar with Daft Punk, so excuse me if I don’t know what I’m talking about, but…people are somehow dissatisfied with this? The vocal hook is insanely good, and while the guitar is just a simple loop, it is quite tasty. |

I mean, it’s definitely similar to stuff I wrote in 8th grade, so I can appreciate it from that angle. |

Wow…gotta admit I’m a little surprised this has so many upvotes. Is that real? Corky are you up to no good? Tryin’ to make some trouble in the neighborhood? |

Much love RJ. That song is like Lay’s chips man. People can hate it all they want, but I feel bad for them. Their ass may not get the proper shaking it deserves this summer. |

Correction: a song by Daft Punk about staying up all night desperately trying to get laid. |

THIS WEEK’S 5 LOWEST RATED COMMENTS

THIS IS TERRIBLE. Someone had to say it. This is the same band that recorded “Alive”? The same band that made “Aerodynamic”? Hell, the same band that recorded the better-than-you-remember “Human After All”? Do they even remember what house music sounds like? I am praying that this is a feint and that the rest of the album sounds completely different. Next year is their 20th anniversary but I’m not counting on ever hearing anything from them as good as “Da Funk” or “Burnin” or “Rock ‘n Roll.” You can’t go home again. |

Poor bastards had to release this the same day that Black Sabbath completely blew away expectations with their new track. I hope the old satanic Brits wipe the floor with the French robots. |

THIS WEEK’S EDITOR’S CHOICE (SCOTT)
raptor jesus | 1:09pm | Score:1 | ||
We currently have five of the six sequences, but the one aired on NPR has not officially been placed. The Boards of Canada YouTube page has been an evolving source of clues. Yesterday it was updated with a new background and a Twoism video. This is what led to last night’s discovery of the 5th number, with image of its sequence placement and all. The reddit community /r/boardsofcanada has been doing a good job noting updates and changes to the YouTube page and throwing out interpretations of what it could all mean. As of right now, there is no definite conclusion, only speculation. I just now saw the old post Stereogum made on Monday, and go figure Joe “The Man” Howse is already on the right track. All we know for sure is there are six number sequences a part of a larger six number sequence. Boards of Canada’s past work has demonstrated an affinity for the number six, their Hexagon Sun collective being the most notable. Admittedly, I’ve crunched some numbers and come up with some batshit hypotheses. Long story short, my thoughts are that the month of June should have all BoC fans on high alert. Since June is the 6th month in the year and if you do yr Wu-Tang Mathematics to the year 2013… 2+0+1+3 = 6 Anyway, I’m geeking over this hard. Glad to have a follow-up post on what could possibly end up being the coolest release of a much anticipated album. Possibly. Who knows. Anyone else following this closely? |
