Photos: DFA 12th Year Anniversary Show
On Saturday, Brooklyn’s gorgeous Grand Prospectus Hall hosted an anniversary party for the new millennial cool factory that is DFA. The label tweeted that they were expecting around 4,000 people, and if you factor in the lack of weekend L train service, the formal attire, and the pent-up enthusiasm of that considerable number of ticket-holders who were compensating for having missed out on LCD’s final bow at MSG, the event was aswirl with vibes. And molly. The Hall itself is a dazzling space, with multiple rooms dedicated to live sets from the likes of Black Dice and YACHT and Planningtorock, and DJ sets from the Rapture and LCD crew Nancy Whang and Pat Mahoney and, of course, a culminating one from prom king in residence James Murphy, who tucked himself onto a dark corner of the balcony for a DJ set that concluded, poetically, with the Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place.” We sent photographer Daniel Topete to capture the sights, and he came back with a really beautiful photo set.
