Waxahatchee – “Coast To Coast” Video
Waxahatchee’s Cerulean Salt remains my favorite album of 2013 (and it did pretty well on our half-year list, too), but when I recommend it in conversation, I usually find myself having to explain the band name: “It’s named after a creek or something, I think.” Well, Katie Crutchfield’s project is indeed named after Waxahatchee Creek, a body of water in Alabama, where Crutchfield grew up. And her new video for the delightfully fuzz-punking Cerulean Salt song “Coast To Coast” shows Crutchfield and friends (including her twin sister Allison, of Swearin’) lamping at riverside, swimming and singing and playing with a dog, generally doing stuff that I wish I was doing this Wednesday morning. And that does look like a creek worth naming a band after. Ryan Russell directed the video, and you can watch it below.
Cerulean Salt is out now on Don Giovanni, and it gets its European release 7/1 on Wichita.
