David Carriere is a Montreal songwriter with a knack for ultra-poppy hooks and smooth 80s-inspired delivery. “David Carriere is a genius savant song-writer and a lunatic that lives down the block from me,” Grimes once wrote in a blog post. “David taught me to love pop music. I make pop music because of David.” Formerly of the band Silly Kissers, Carriere now plays in avant-pop 4-piece TOPS. And when he’s not playing with a full band, Carriere also makes music under the moniker Paula. Last year, Arbutus Records imprint Movie Star released Paula’s first album Relaxed Fit digitally. On July 16, Drag City imprint Ethereal Sequence is re-releasing Relaxed on vinyl. Included on the re-release are two bonus tracks, once of which you can stream below, “Totally Nice.”
