Yeezus To Feature Daft Punk, Justin Vernon, Chief Keef
Last night, Kanye West held a listening party for his new album Yeezus, filling the New York studio Milk with luminaries like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and our own Claire Lobenfeld, who might have more to add to this report later. Kanye reportedly claimed that he doesn’t care if the album leaks, and he spent the event in the corner of the room, headbanging. The album, reportedly much darker than past affairs, has a pretty fascinating guest list. Billboard reports that Daft Punk worked on “three or four” of its tracks, and both Justin Vernon and Chief Keef, amazingly, show up on the same song; it’s called “Can’t Handle My Liquor.” One track samples both TNGHT’s monstrous “Higher Ground” and Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit.” The Chicago rapper King Louie shows up, as do Travi$ Scott and producer Arca. And Rick Rubin, who’s great at helping focus ambitious projects like this, serves as executive producer. So there you have it: A bunch more reasons why we can’t fucking wait for this album. Watch a clip of Kanye speaking at the event below.
Yeezus is out 6/18 on Def Jam.
