Freddie Gibbs – “One Eighty Seven” (Feat. Problem)
The Gary, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs recently renounced his association with Young Jeezy and Jeezy’s CTE label, saying some not-too-nice things about Jeezy in the process. So now Gibbs is back on the internet underground, cranking out merciless gravelly triple-time G-rap with all the bloody-minded intensity and technical fluidity that brought him to Jeezy’s attention in the first place. Gibbs has a new album called ESGN on the way, and his new single “One Eighty Seven” unites him with Problem, the Compton rapper who linked up with Iamsu! for the recent Mixtape Of The Week selection Million Dollar Afro. The new track is a hard, chilly, lowdown banger on the level of the stuff Gibbs was doing in the pre-CTE era. Listen below.
ESGN is out 7/9. Gangsta Gibbs is also going to release Cocaine Pinata, a full-length collab with Madlib, in the fall.
