Hear Mac DeMarco’s Unhinged Covers Medley From New Live Cassette
One of the most infamous moments from this weekend’s Pitchfork Music Festival came during Mac DeMarco’s set, when the lo-fi wiseacre devoted nearly half his onstage time to a goofball medley of sloppy, irreverent covers. That medley included versions of Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s “Takin’ Care Of Business,” the Beatles’ “Blackbird,” Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff,” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” And apparently, that medley is just a part of DeMarco’s show now. DeMarco also played the medley during a recent show at Bloomington, Indiana’s Russian Recording, and it’s now online in probably a higher quality than it needs to be. (The whole show is for sale as a limited-edition live cassette.) Listen to the entire 10-minute monsterpiece below, and try to count how many times DeMarco yells “suck my dick.”
You can listen to DeMarco’s whole live show at Ad Hoc, though, I mean, you get the idea.
