Willis Earl Beal – “Too Dry To Cry”
The Chicago outsider-soul wailer made his impression singing songs on street corners, and his debut album Acousmatic Sorcery was an exercise in home-recorded slapdash weirdness. But on Beal’s new album Nobody knows., we might get to hear what he can do for real. This time around, Beal’s got a real studio at his disposal, and it promises to boast way-higher fidelity than anything he’s done to date. We’ve already posted first single “Everything unwinds.,” and now here’s “Too Dry To Cry,” a heavy, stomping lament that could almost be a lost spiritual. Listen below.
Nobody knows. is out 9/10 on XL.
