One of the greatest strengths of Active Child, the art-pop project of L.A.’s Pat Grossi, has always been Grossi’s angelic choirboy falsetto. So it’s a bit of a surprise to hear a new Active Child song with no words, one where the wordless vocals are almost an afterthought. But Active Child has a new EP called Rapor on the way, and the first track he’s shared is “She Cut Me,” a short and quiet instrumental, one that glides just as prettily without those falsetto flights.
