YACHT – “Party At The NSA” (Feat. Marc Maron)
Portland electro-pop duo YACHT’s new song “Party At The NSA” is a lightweight new-wave jam about the surveillance state, which puts it firmly in the “99 Luftballoons” tradition of lightweight new-wave jams about heavy issues. The comedian and star podcaster Marc Maron played the song’s guitar solo, a connection that the group might’ve made after Maron proclaimed his fandom in this Stereogum interview and the band got stoked on it. The single is a benefit for the anti-surveillance nonprofit Electronic Frontier Foundation, and you can hear it below.
You can buy the single here. Also, YACHT singer Claire L. Evans has lately been writing about science for Grantland, and this column, on drones and Elysium, is awesome.
