Scotland’s Biffy Clyro are responsible for one of my favorite albums of 2013, the double-LP Opposites, while Vampire Weekend released the Stereogum consensus choice for album of the year (so far) with Modern Vampires Of The City. Now, in unlikely fashion, the twain have met: Biffy did an acoustic cover of VW’s massive single “Diane Young” on Radio 1’s Live Lounge. I’m not sure it’s a great fit for either party — Biffy’s strengths come from their soaring dynamics and emotional directness, while VW are all about subtle shades and lyrical details — but it’s kinda cool to hear just the same.
