Stream Windhand Soma
Lately, our own Michael has been repping heavily for Windhand, a doom metal band from Richmond, Virginia, and for their massive new album Soma. Michael is our resident metal expert, and you should pay attention to what he types. But, as a guy who likes metal but isn’t really a metal guy, allow me to add my voice to the chorus: Windhand are on some shit, and the expansive-but-brutal Soma is one of the finest slabs of epic stoner intensity you will hear this year. We’ve already posted the gargantuan early tracks “Woodbine” and “Orchard,” but you also owe it to yourself to check out the 14-minute “Cassock” and the half-hour album closer “Boleskine.” Fortunately, you can now stream the whole album at Pitchfork. Go do that.
Soma is out 9/17 on Relapse.
