On October 1, Other Music and Burger Records will release the debut full-length by Brazilian psychedelic rock band Boogarins, As Plantas Que Curam. (In English, that means “Plants That Heal.”) Songwriters Fernando Almeida and Benke Ferraz, still only 19 and 20 years old, met while attending high school together in the city of Goiânia. Their debut album “shares the spirit and soul of Tropicalismo, but also blossomed in the light of the current international DIY underground,” the band writes in a press release. Below, check out a video for “Lucifernandis,” shot at sunset near railroad tracks. There’s an end-of-summer slowness to it, a perfect visual accompaniment to the song’s cyclical drumbeats and mid-tempo harmonizing.
