Earlier this month, Darkside, the duo of producer Nicolas Jaar and guitarist Dave Harrington, released Psychic, a very good album of spacey, proggy downtempo music. The Darkside live show is way more interesting than most knob-twiddle-intensive live shows, and that definitely has something to do with how much fun it can be to watch people get really, really into their work. In a recent Maida Vale session that they recorded for the BBC, the duo played a live version of their album track "Freak, Go Home," letting us see, in the process, the sort of deep-focus interactive intensity that they put into making music.
