Mike WiLL Made-It – “Whippin A Brick” (Feat. Migos & Wiz Khalifa)
Atlanta superproducer Mike WiLL Made-It made his name crafting astronaut-status melodic bass ripples for rappers including Future, 2 Chainz, and Juicy J, then jumped to a new tier of stardom this year as one of the sonic architects behind twerk-era Miley Cyrus. His own full-length album, Est. in 1989 Pt. 3 (The Album), has yet to emerge, although lead single “23” did make it out into the world in time to capitalize on Miley mania. To hold us over, a new collaborative mixtape with Been Trill called #MikeWiLLBeenTriLL is on the way, and today Will teased that release with a new single called “Whippin A Brick.” Production-wise, it forgoes the spacious rumble that has become Will’s calling card for something closer to classic overblown orchestral trap music, although there are still traces of Will’s DNA in there beyond the ubiquitous “Mike WiLL Made-It” tag. As for the vocals, fellow Atlanta success story Migos are on hand to do their signature contagious coordinated spazz, as is Wiz Khalifa, who does a Migos impression almost as impressive as Drake’s. In other words, it sounds like 2013 rap radio in a blender. Stream or download it below.
