Watch Beck Debut “Wave” And Jenny Lewis & Anne Hathaway Sing His Song Reader In L.A.
In a few weeks, Beck will release Morning Phase, his first proper new studio album since 2008. And over the weekend, he debuted the first of its songs, while the Los Angeles Philharmonic backed him up. The show, at L.A.’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, was dedicated to Beck’s last non-studio album, the sheet music experiment Song Reader, and it had people like Jack Black, Jarvis Cocker, Childish Gambino, and Juanes coming through to sing his songs while the orchestra backed them up. But the big news from the show is Beck himself stepping onstage for “Wave,” a simple and heartstoppingly beautiful new song. Below, watch fan-made videos of Beck singing Wave and Anne Hathaway and Jenny Lewis harmonizing on the Song Reader track “Last Night You Were A Dream.”
Morning Phase will be out in February on Capitol.
