Migos – “Jealousy”
When the Atlanta rap trio Migos recorded their frenetic breakout mixtape YRN, they sounded like the insanely hungry, insanely talented, just plain insane young hip-hop prospects they were. They’re not exactly household names now, but they rode that tape to a certain level of fame and fortune, and from the sounds of the singles they’ve leaked so far from YRN2, the fortune side of things is on their mind along with the paranoia that tends to follow. “Ran Up The Money” and “Brokanese” found Migos exhibiting progressively increased antagonism toward those who can’t match their inflated bank accounts, and this latest single continues that trajectory. “Jealousy” is boilerplate more-money-more-problems rap, complete with a Biggie shout-out and a downright ominous synth-string beat from Murda. But as usual, those typical rap topics are refracted through the lens of that unmistakably elastic Migos cadence. Download it below, and watch your back.
YRN2 is coming in January.
