Fujiya & Miyagi – “Tetrahydrofolic Acid”
The British trio Fujiya & Miyagi made a name for themselves by figuring out the midpoint between krautrock and Hot Chip-style synthpop and setting up shop there. But the group is getting ready to release a new album, their first since 2011’s Ventriloquizzing, and now they’re zigging where we might expect them to zag. The instrumental new single “Tetrahydrofolic Acid” works like a mad pileup of ’80s Chicago house, early-Aphex skitter-bloops, and mid-’00s British indie. I’m not sure how I feel about it on first listen, but it sure isn’t boring. Listen below.
