YG just released My Krazy Life, easily the best rap album of 2014 thus far, and he exists at the forefront of the West Coast's ratchet movement sound. He is a fully-formed new rap star, but he's not yet a great live show. I saw that for myself at SXSW last week, and he showed it again last night as the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Doing a medley of the singles "Who Do You Love" and "My Nigga," YG had help from label boss Jeezy, production mastermind DJ Mustard, and a gigantic baseball cap. He did not have an entire battalion of this non-rapping friends onstage, which counts as progress. Easy highlight of the performance: Jeezy's hat falling off. YG will get better at this sort of thing if he keeps doing it, but the songs are already there. Watch the performance below.

My Krazy Life is out now on Def Jam, and I honestly cannot say enough good things about it.
