Saul Williams To Star In Tupac Broadway Musical
The New York Times reports that singer, poet, and actor Saul Williams — perhaps best known for his 2007 Trent Reznor collaboration The Inevitable Rise And Liberation Of NiggyTardust! — will play the lead role in Holler If Ya Hear Me, a new musical inspired by the work of Tupac Shakur. The show isn’t biographical and will instead focus on “the world inside Tupac’s music and lyrics,” so Williams will not be playing Tupac, but someone named John. Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother, had a hand in producing the musical, which will start previews on May 29 and officially open on June 19.
